During academic year 2022-2023, the MPA faculty have created program sub-committees focused on substantive tasks such as recruitment, admissions, student advising and support, and program assessment.
The program assessment sub-committee has worked on revising the program's mission and goals, as well as the logic model and the program assessment strategy. The assessment sub-committee solicited feedback about these revisions from the entire MPA committee, faculty teaching core and elective classes in the program, current students in the program, and selected alumni.
In May 2023, the MPA committee held the MPA program retreat which, among other, was used to discuss and finalize the updated program mission and goals statements, the program logic model, and the overall assessment strategy and framework.
Following the updates in the program assessment strategy as it pertains to the student learning outcomes assessment, the capstone class in the program was re-designed to encompass individual rather than team-based student projects. Going forward, samples of individual capstone projects and MPA student portfolios (alongside with samples from relevant other classes) will be used to conduct student learning outcomes assessment. The program offers a variety of team-based assignments and group projects in other program classes.
